No person shall, within the Town of Garfield, discharge any firearms, air gun, gas-operated gun or spring gun; provided, this section shall not be construed to prohibit any law officer from discharging a firearm in the performance of his or her duty, nor any citizen discharging a firearm when lawfully defending his or her person or property; and provided further, nothing in this section shall prohibit the discharge of a firearm at a safe, indoor firing range, or the discharge of a firearm by any person engaged in target shooting activities on the grounds of the Garfield Gun Club.
